How To Keep Your Mind Calm & Your Bootie In Check During Lockdown?

Stress & anxiety - I feel like I'm paralysed by it or it triggers my stress/emotional eating.

Does this seem accurate?

(a day in your life during lockdown, without kids. With kids quadruple the intensity!)

7AM

Wake up

Virtual Yoga

Check emails

You feel healthy today! You make a smoothie with all kinds of fruits and green veggies.

-- Feels really GOOD!

Clean the mess

9:00AM

Work. Answer calls and emails.

Snack time: open the fridge hoping to discover something new

Disappointed by the lack of options. Go to pantry and pick up some crackers with cheese

Now you feel guilty: "Why did I not pick the apple instead? No more carbs today!"

Go back to work

11:00AM

Snack time: open the fridge hoping to discover something new

Disappointed by the lack of options. Go to pantry and pick up some cookies

Now you feel guilty: "Why did I not pick the apple instead? No more carbs today and just a salad for lunch!"

Noon

Lunch time!

Open the fridge to pick up salad ingredients.

Shock! There are hardly any veggies and no lettuce left in the fridge! Your shopping day is only in 2 days!

You make rice with the few veggies you could find and a sausage.

Then as a treat because you deserve it, half a chocolate bar.

You feel even more guilty than before because you failed yourself.

Clean up.

You have to work but not in the mood anymore.

FaceTime chat with BFF to see if she's feeling the same way. (you'd feel better if she did!)

And this goes on and on all day & night, every day!

You start feeling more & more depressed and anxious. Plus nothing fits anymore because you've got more junk in your trunk.

3 weeks = 1 long day of the same

I don't want to take this situation lightly because it's not. The emotional, physical and mental tolls of the #COVID-19 outbreak are real. Our lives have in no time completely turned upside down - #socialdistancing, complete isolation, events and trips cancelled, jobs lost, and a future that is as #Uncertain as is Certainty!

But as I have said before, when one door closes another one opens, that is if we're curious to see what lies on the other side.

There are ways we can make this experience more positive, useful and beneficial. We can ALL get to that mental space given we do our homework diligently.

So before you decide to throw in the towel, or assume you don't have what it takes to overcome your negative internal dialogue, please join us on Friday at our Live webinar.

You Are Not Alone in this my friend!

To help us navigate these demanding times, I invited a very special guest, a dear friend, a badass lady who knows a thing or two about health, juggling roles and keeping sane during the most difficult times.

Meet #SandraMikhail, Founder & Director of Nutrition A-Z. Also an internationally-known accredited practising dietician, nutrition blogger. When she's not helping her clients get healthy and fit, she openly fights to keep the conversation real around nutrition: fact-based and not fad-based.
